What media player are you using?
IMO the best one is zoom player pro and if you dont like messing with codec configurations then go with WinDvd6.
edit:I didnt read your question correctly lol....
Have you tried downloading Real Alternative?

Try VLC media player and see if that helps. I'm running an older AMD 2500 barton chip with an ati 9600xt vid card and have no problem running hd video. ALSO AND PROBABLY THE MOST IMPORTANT - SHUT OFF PROGRAMS RUNNING IN THE BACKGROUND. Crap like Norton Anti-virus, Quicktime, AOL, all try to hog resources,,clean yer resources and I think you'll have no problems.

All computers no matter how fast or how many video cards you have or what type of player you are using...video will not play without freezing and/or jumping if there hasn't been a prior ad/spy scan and removal before viewing. This is the worst problem on the net today! You can go to one web site after a scan and have 1 to 12 new ad/spyware bugs. Every major commercial web site will implant the adware...they all do it. Microsoft, Dell, HP, Yahoo just to name a few. They seem harmless, but your computer can have 100's even 1000's of these ad/spyware bugs and each one stands in line waiting to use your computers processing power to send you advertsing. The thing that causes the problem, the ad/spyware bugs have priority over your commands. That's what causes the freezing, 100's of little ad/spyware bugs waiting in line to read your hard drive so they can sell you something. One bug will screw up a video...any video, on any computer. They are the kiss of death to all videographers trying to earn a living, through the net. Wheather you are PPV or just streaming advertising, a consumers video player won't run with adware! The sad thing is...the consumer will blame the website for having a bad video. Videographers and encoders will buy faster computers and graphic cards, experiment with different software and codec's...It's ad/spyware! If you want to see how bad this problem is do a ad/spyware scan, you must reboot to remove ad/spyware, go surf the net a few pages and do another scan, now you know. Virus protection doesn't do as good a job as ad/spyware removers, I find.

Are you F'ing kidding me?? Not all sites embed spyware/ad aware, next you'll tell us Dell ships all their PCs with viruses so they can make money from telling us how to get rid of it?! He didn't say he got the video off the web, he could have gotten it from usenet, are you telling me usenet embeds spyware too?? If you scan your system and goto one site and then wind up with 12 spyware programs then you don't know how to remove spyware correctly, it has nothing to do with the site, it's you.
Lastly all the Real and Quicktime clips I have and have seen skip and pause, it's the enoder/player, nothing to do with microsoft.com . . laughing my ass off . . .

Siam,,,I've got Spiderman2 - 720p - and it plays without a hitch on my old machine,,using VLC media player. Your machine has more balls than mine and it should play hd without a problem. Do a HighjackThis scan,,AdAware scan,,,andthrow in a SpyBot S&D scan and you might just find yer problem.

Thanks for your response...couple things- 1st I said every "major" commercial site, but you're right, should have said, almost every site. You misunderstood "embed" and no, Dell doesn't send viruses with their PC's. It doesn't matter were the video came from, if you use your computer to view a video and the ad/spyware in your computer activates, it will mess up your video. If you view a video off the net the adware probably won't activate. The aim of the ad/spyware isn't there to mess up video, it does that because it uses your processing power to search your harddrive for something to sell you. It doesn't mean to mess up the video, it's a bi-product of the processor being used for scanning your harddrive. It's like when an appliance comes on in a room with lights on, the light goes dim for a second and everything is back to normal. It's that little draw of power from the ad/spyware that messes up the video. Oh, I said "between" 1 & 12.
I don't pay for ad/spyware software, so I have to do a scan everytime I go off the net. That's how I know what I'm talking about. If the ad/spyware was to automatically block all the ad/spyware, I'd be fat dumb and happy. One more thing...I've gained some wieght sittin behind this computer for the last 10 years...could you please tell me how to laugh my ass off? Thanks!

Yes excellent advice if you were looking for ways to waste your time. Please run these programs and then report back telling us the video is jerking and dropping frames in the same exact place it was before. :hithere:

Your vid card should certainly handle any HD pumped through it. What processe's do you have running in the bg? What media player? Stuff like OSA (MS office) running in the background is a huge resource hog, any anti-virus crap will continue to poll. Make sure your machine is running as skinnyas possible.
