I'm trying to connect my pc to my tv. i already got video to work via a dvi-hdmi. i'm trying to get my sound to play on the tv. i connected the spdif from my Auzentech X-Fi Forte to my tv but there is still no sound. in the tv manual it says that the optical audio will be active with whatever input is being used. i have the digital audio (spdif) set as the default in the playback devices. i have a vizio vl370m. my soundcard uses modified Creative drivers. in the digital i/o section, it says that the spdif in is unknown or invalid input.

The optical connection on your TV is probably just an output. You should connect the red-white analog stereo connections for audio not the S/pdif.

Correct. That connection on the back of your TV is an OUTPUT, not an input.

Only through the HDMI connection, but that would require your PC to support that. Digital audio is not really necessary since your TV is only stereo anyway. Just hook up the analog.

That's the way to do it if you have a surround system.

You'll have to read your TV manual to find out which video input is tied to that audio input.

Or at least tell us what the TV is.

Going back to your original post - just what do you mean by "modified drivers" for your creative soundcard?
Also - if you plug a set of headphones into the same 1/8 jack of the computer - do you get volume?

the auzentech x-fi forte just uses Creative drivers. they don't make the drivers themselves. they just take Creative's drivers and modify it.

and yes i get volume with headphones. thats the same jack i use for my headphone.

should i be using another jack?
