I have that exact TV. The kf-50we610 is a nice TV although it is the first and only HDTV I have ever owned. $1600 is a great price I can tell you that for sure. I paid $3,200 for mine a few weeks ago.
Have you seen the kf-50we610 playing on the showroom floor? I walked into my local Best Buy and there were a lot of HDTVs to choose from. Including the new Samsung DLP. Out of all of them I thought the Sony was the best displayer of the bunch.
But I am sure there are second opinions out there. Regardless though, that price of $1600 is like 50% off, and that kf-50we610 is a great TV.

Love my sony kf50we610, and for that price, you cant lose. If I were you, I'd buy both and decide which one I like better. I'm sure some one out there would like to take the kf50we610 off your hands for 16 bills.

The new model KDF-50WE655, adds a tuner and cable card slot. I'm waiting to see the newer model because I want the HDTV tuner. If the card slot and or tuner are important to you, I would wait. Otherwise you can't go wrong with the current model. I hope this helps.

I had the 43 inch version of this tv and it was great. The only problem was that it blew 2 bulbs after about 4 months (technician replaced the first bulb and the second lasted about 1 week). Since I hate buying extended warranties this scared me and when an opportunity arose to get a 6 month old Samsung DLP 50 inch w/ stand and 5 year warranty for $2500 I jumped at it and sold the Sony to a friend. No more bulb problems but I think he has decided to buy the extended warranty just in case. So, I guess my point is to make sure and get the warranty.
