The HD sound and video are out of sync even while watching live TV. I'm using the 942 STB.
Has anybody else seen this problem. Is there a fix?

HD sound out of Syncasandiego 08-18-2005, 07:29 PM The HD sound and video are out of sync even while watching live TV. I'm using the 942 STB. Has anybody else seen this problem. Is there a fix? rbinck 08-18-2005, 08:49 PM What is your TV? It has been reported the some of the early Samsung DLP TVs had a sync problem because of the greater time required for the video processing. Here are some links on the subject: http://www.ibcnews.com/articles/viewarticle.jsp?id=31013-0 (http://www.ibcnews.com/articles/viewarticle.jsp?id=31013-0) http://www.audioholics.com/techtips/specsformats/AV_lip_sync_delay.html (http://www.audioholics.com/techtips/specsformats/AV_lip_sync_delay.html) asandiego 08-19-2005, 10:09 AM I have a Panasonic Plasma TV. Model TH-50PX25UP. rbinck 08-19-2005, 01:05 PM Audio sync problems will occur due to problems at the broadcast end from time to time. Maybe that's what you are seeing. I've not heard of any particular problems with plasmas. RSawdey 08-19-2005, 01:34 PM Sometimes it's a glitch in the STB... changing to another channel & back will sometimes resync... bart2brett 08-19-2005, 02:33 PM I have this problem, but with only one channel. So I assume it's on the broadcasters end. asandiego 08-19-2005, 02:50 PM Thank all for your comments and sugestions tdsurf 08-19-2005, 11:08 PM I just got Dish/HD and I've noticed it too from time to time on HD channels. Got a brand new Pan 42px500u but I don't think it's the set. td Nightowl 08-20-2005, 09:33 AM If it's consistently one channel, it's one thing. Could always call Dish and see what they say. I chalk it up to bad editing if it is only one program. With non linear editing, it is so easy to slip the video timeline and lose sync that it can happen. Lazy editing if the editor doesn't catch it, and one of my pet peeves. Discovery had a show on the reality behind the Da Vinci Code and some parts were in sync, others out. asandiego 08-23-2005, 10:27 AM The problem is always with the DSCHD channel and it happens with all their programs. Can you guys check it out and see if is also happening. Thanks tdsurf 08-23-2005, 10:41 PM The problem is always with the DSCHD channel and it happens with all their programs. Can you guys check it out and see if is also happening. OK, happening right now on DSCHD. Let's start a log. I'm pretty sure it happened on other channels. Definitely more than one program so it's not editing. t tdsurf 08-25-2005, 12:45 PM OK, EQUTR too. Is it only Voom? td tdsurf 08-25-2005, 02:06 PM RAVE... off by more than a second. !!!! Is this old news... nobody cares... nobody has this problem? t asandiego 08-25-2005, 04:31 PM No, it's not Voom. This is happens with their normal DSCHD. I believe that this is going to continue to be a problem as they deploy more 942 STB's. Do you know of a website or telephone number to complaint directly to Dish. I tried their feedback website, I'm still waiting for a reply. Thanks asandiego 08-26-2005, 10:46 AM I called Dish at 1800-333-3474 and navigated to technical support. The gentlemen there asked me to turn off the STB and turn on again. I don’t know if he downloaded new code. The problem disappeared. This was on of the friendliest and most professional customer support calls that I’ve ever had. To all 942 STB owners, turn your STB box off nightly. This is needed for SW upgrades. :yippee: hb2474 08-26-2005, 03:22 PM All HD boxes need to be turned off at night. Not that I do it but when I do it does seem to work better (811). Are you using a Optical Audio Output? I had the same problem with my Optical Audio Selector, connected to a long optical cable. When I put directly to my receiver with a shorter one, works fine. | |
