Find out what the othe tenants are using the dish for. Like is it a Directv dish or a dishnetwork dish. I also dont think its used for HD but rather the basic stations. You need a 2nd dish for the HD Stations and a 3 lnb dish for Directv. Is your phillips an outdoor or indoor antenna? If it's inside than that is probably why your only getting pbs. Post your zip code and we can find out more on what channels you can get in HD.

Ok you have a Superdish that 4 apartments split? That dish only has 4 outputs on it so how many are free?

If you want to do HD with Dish you will need atleast the 811 receiver. That will run a single tv with no DVR. If you want DVR you would have to get the 942 and that cost an extra $250.00 to lease. The nice thing is with the 942 you can do PIP on one TV or run two TV's one with HD the other with SD.

Cost's will depend on what package you get. Americas Top 60 starts at 31.99 with locals plus you would have to add 10.00 a month for the HD package. Americas Top 120 is 42.99 and then the Top 180 is 53.99. Also if you wanted all the HD you would need a second Dish pointed at the 61.5 sat to get the VOOM HD package. That costs another 5.00 a month plus the cost of a dish.

it is a dish network super dish..and if it has four outputs there is only four apartments per building(4plex) so they cant all be used up..and it says HDTV on the dish itself? so i couldnt use my current HD tuner with the dish? id have to get another reciever from dish network? and as far as i know there is only one person useing the dish right now, plus the apartments have the cable jacks built into the wall

zip is 5456 and it dosnt list much....i dont think it even listed any HD channels but i ended up with HD pbs...and its a indoor antenna, it has 32db gain for UHF and 20db gain for VHF. even though it has a amp in it can i still use a external second amp?

The tuner in your set is for over the air, local signals. Your 'dish' or 'cable' would come with an appropriate receiver.
Adding 'amps' often just adds more noise. I use a non-amp Silver Sensor indoor antenna. It gets me just about all the UHF digital channels I need.
But if it did not, I would go with a good outside antenna, not a good option for you.
You need to check if your HD channels are on UHF or VHF. About 92% are on UHF.....but being in an apt. you may have to go with cable to get your locals. You are likely limited as to where you can mount a Dish. And to get all the locals and HD may require more than one Dish.
Cable could certainly be an better option for you all around.
You may still prefer the somewhat cleaner OTA signal you get on some channels using an indoor antenna along with cable.
