anyone use Voom for OTA?? pls help.

ok so i bought a ATI HDTV wonder for my pc, it came with an antenna, and i WAS able to pick up channels.

I returned that and got a activated Voom box instead (ofcourse it was cheaper also).

anyways i can get 85-96 signal strentgh on RF's 22, 33, 36, 42.

when i scan for channel, i CANT pick anything up. whats going on here?

if i was able to pick up channels thru the ATI hd wonder, why cant i pick up channels from the Voom + silver sensor antenna?

the ATI hd wonder, all i did was hit the scan button, i didnt have to enter in a RF.

any ideas? THANKS

Try unplugging the Voom box for a little bit and plugging it back in. I had the same issue and it turns out it was because I replaced the tuner module while the box was on, and it didn't really "recognize" it until I did a power cycle.

Try unplugging the Voom box for a little bit and plugging it back in. While the symptoms may seem the same, the cause is different. My Voom box was unplugged for months and would not scan in new, nor display any 'old' stations. Neither did a soft boot with the power button (5sec).

The box was activated in a different region and the stations available are based upon a Voom-provided map, which is in non-volitile memory in the tuner. A factory reset will erase that memory, plus the activation information, making the STB worthless.

Read the link I posted; found after hours of searching. New OTA stations can be added in Vooms which have the latest software that allows scanning. The link contains many procedures, but specifically, the one needed to scan and include these new (to this region, as far as the box is concerned) stations.

Unplugging, soft boots, pressing other 'reset' buttons and changing connections did nothing but frustrate me. I was ready to re-sell the Voom.

I've read through that whole thread you linked and it is very helpful. However, since he can get to the "Aim Off Air Antenna" section of settings and get the signal strengths, that means he has the latest firmware and is able to scan for locals. It sounds like he's followed everything in that thread and go to the point where he tries to scan for local channels, and nothing came up.
