I just hooked up my Panasonic SC-HT56 surround receiver and after getting everything fixed and set up... I discovered a hissing sound coming from all 5 channels! :banghead:
I didn't have this issue when I had another Panny HTIB hooked up and am using the exact same equipment as I was before (excluding the new receiver/speakers, obviously).
I hear the hiss when watching TV *and* watching a Blu-Ray and I do hear it when everything is muted.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to eliminate this?

Since you just hooked it up, new out of the box, I would try hooking it up from scratch, start over. This might eliminate any hookup errors that sometimes are missed. Then try to reset the receiver. Look through your manual to see if there are any instructions for resetting to default.
If there is still a problem, take it back, if you can, and get a new one.

Completely unhook everything. Then hook everything back up and double check with the owner's manual ( your best friend, by the way ) that you have everything correct ( especially the speaker connections ). Usually it just a simple error that causes problems. :banghead: If you still have the hiss, box it up and return it.

Yea...I've tried what both you guys recommended and nothing worked. The worst hiss/static noise comes from the worst possible place: the center channel.
I called Panasonic and they couldn't help me. Referred me to a technician that is about an hour away from where I live.:crying:
And I'm close to the 30 day return policy from 6th Avenue Electronics as I was just able to hook it up in the last few days (I have moved apartments so it made no sense for me to hook it up when I got it a few weeks back at the old place).
I figure if they are going to charge me anything or have me waste the gas to drive up there and take it to them then I might as well return it...but I feel like Panasonic should really cover this under the warranty and is kind of copping out by referring to a repair tech (though certified) outside of the company...
What do you guys think?

Exchange it for a new one...

Yes, I agree. If possible, return it for a new unit. :2cents

If you're still within the the 30 day return policy, return it.
I'd rather have new than refurbished.
