Can't pull the trigger, maybe wait a while?

I've been back and for about the P50S1 at BB for 999. I had my credit card out and the guy was "ringing" it up when it hit me that I didn't really NEED this thing. I already have an 1080 tv, rather small but looks good, and I have a few other things I could spend the money on.

I know the normal retail price for this TV is 1399 and that 999 is a killer deal, but they won't even have it available for pickup until the end of the month. I figure by then, stores will be running massive sales for Christmas and such so wouldn't there be equally good deals.

I'm not asking you guys to decide what to spend my money on, but rather do you think that there will be equally good deals to be had as the new year approaches?

When are the new models coming out? Wouldn't that create a drop in price for the current models? Since the current models are all I really need, wouldn't it be intelligent to wait until the new stuff comes out and get the current stuff for a real deal?

Panasonic generally starts reducing inventory to limit how many old year models are available so the choices will likely be low if history is any clue with them.

In another link there is a 42" 720p plasma at BB for only $480.00 right now. If your budget is tight don't spend the money or consider this.

Yeah, that's what I thought. Doesn't make sense to mass produce toward the end of the year if your new stuff is getting ready to come out. I can go higher than that. But I figure I'll hold off for now and save up a little while longer. Maybe try and buy something in the 1200-1300 range instead of the 1000 range.

We'll see what happens in the next 2 months I guess. I suppose that this is the sign of a smart buyer right? The ability to walk away if the deal isn't to my liking?

What really sealed the deal for my NOT getting it, was that they didn't have any in stock and wouldn't be getting any in until Black Friday. The line goes all the way around the block at 5 a.m. on Black Friday at my local BB, I'm not waiting in line like that to pick up a t.v. I'd have to wait another day or few just to pick it up hassle free. If he would have had one right then and there, I'd be watching it tonight. Why put an item on sale and not have enough hanging around the store? The dude even said that the store inventory was low on this model when the sale price went up 6 days ago. Whats up BB?
