HDMI question and plasma question

building a new house.... had them do in wall wiring for the TV and 7.1 surround...

But I had do do my own HDMI... Which I did. Got a wall rated HDMI and it is nicely run protected etc ready for my new TV...


So sorry if I didn't investigate enough, but I am really impressed with feed back here so I am going to ask for help:

1) I am thinking I should have run multiple HDMI cables... It is to late now. Is there some sort of HDMI switch that is available? To be honest I really do not do any gaming, pretty much only watch HDtv (cable)... But I am pretty sure I will get blueray with the new set. So am I screwed with one HDMI?

2) Pretty sure I am going to get a V10... Was going to get a Samsung LED LCD... But the more I learn the more I realize I should get the plasma. Knowing that I am not a gammer, just want the best "all around viewing experience" is V10 right for me? I know it is very subjective, but I want to get this right on the first try and move on. My budget is decent but I would like to get a decent deal...

3) speakers.... probably not the right place... but i am wired for 7.1... if anyone has advice send me a message... and I am also looking for pro installation in the midwest... once again recommendations IM me..

No you are not. You have a few options running more cables is not possible are too much of a pain in the ass.

1. The cheapest route is to get a HDMI switch like this 1. Based off your comments, it sounds like a 3x1would be all you need. Here is 1 for around $30..

2. Another option is to get an A/V reciever that does HDMI switching for you. I seen you mentioned being wired up for 7.1 speakers but no mention of a receiver yet. If not, a good HDMI receiver is ALL you need. The Onkyo TX-SR607 has 6 HDMI inputs and does analog to HDMI digital conversion. So pretty much no matter what you connect to the 607 (HDMI, component video, or S-video all you need is the single HDMI out to the TV. It is onsale at Amazon for $407 shipped.:bowdown: The Denon AVR 1910 is another great option for a few $$$ more.

An HDMI switching receiver will suit you just fine, and the one HDMI cable will suffice. The Onkyo 607 is an excellent choice if you are needing one. If you need the entire HT system, the Onkyo HT-S6200 or 7200 will fit the bill. All you need then is a Blu-Ray player. :thumbsup:

What about the problems people have been having with the Onkyo receivers and handshake issues with the Panasonics. has this been fixed?

I have had two onkyo receivers; 1st TX-SR606 and 2nd TX-NR905 and neither has ever had any handshake issues with my Panasonic Plasma TH-PZ800u.
