I noticed that when I am on a HDTV channel that is outputting 1080i it displays 1080i in the info display... My question is does it convert it to 720p or 720i?

My question is does it convert it to 720p or 720i? PFC5 11-04-2009, 03:50 AM When you hit the info button it is showing you the input resolution and not the displaying resolution. This is normal. Yes it does scale it to the native resolution of the display. chris687 11-04-2009, 03:58 AM When you hit the info button it is showing you the input resolution and not the displaying resolution. Loves2Watch 11-04-2009, 09:10 AM Then its 720p? thats my native resolution... Correct... Bigloww 11-04-2009, 10:36 AM Then its 720p? thats my native resolution... Yep, your TV's native resolution is most likely 1366x768, so that is what everything will be scaled to. Basic 720p is 1280x720 I think, so a 720p source will be upscalled a bit and a 1080 (1920x1080) will be downconverted. Provided I am interpreting this the right way: The channel is just saying what it can be displayed in, but it is not saying what your TV is outputting it as. So if the channel says 1080i but your tv is only 720p then your TV is displaying the HD signal as 720p. So if the channel says 1080i but your tv is only 720p then your TV is displaying the HD signal as 720p. You got it. chris687 11-05-2009, 01:56 AM Correct... Thanks... Thats awesome, I think 720p on my 32" looks as good as 1080i on my parents 47" | |
