hi anyone know what part my tv needs

hi i have a 46" sony flat screen lcd kdl-46v3000 and it has 3 equaly spaced lines going horizontal and on the left half its showing double images any one know what part is needed thanks

I was about to say it is either the main board or the panel itself. I have seen this condition before on TV's and laptops and both can cause this issue. Either way it is gonna be BIG $$$ to repair and may not be worth it. If it is the panel itself, it will cost about the same as the TV just for the part. Since you can get a 50'' plasma now adays for around a G note, you may want to look into that. Sorry man.

You can also look at some parts at Sonystyle.com
You put in your display part number and you can break it down from there.
At least you will get an idea of what the parts costs then do some comparison.
Also, try www.agoraquest.com which is a Sony exclusive forum. It's been around quite a while and you may well run into folks who have had the same problem.

The only way I have seen a panel replacement anywhere near worth it is with a used/refurb paneldepending on the TV. And that is only if you do the replacement yourself. And then you have no way of telling how long that thing is going to last. If it is a board issue, that is a different story, but hard to tell for sure what the issue is without the knowledge/equipment to verify. If you take it into an tech, they can run around $200 just to tell you what the problem is.

AN easy way to confirm it is likely the panel and not the video processing board is to see if it does it when the TV menus are up on the screen. If it does it in the same areas while the TV menu is on the screen it is more likely the panel and not the video board.

Not sure about the video board cost, but the panel will likely not be worth replacing as the cost would be too high especially when you add the labor costs. Most mfg don't even bother doing this when it is under warranty although a couple have posted the mfg did this.

Of course, a panel replacement is like pulling the body of your car up and setting it down on a new chassis! :D
A little easier with a display, so I guess some mfr. figure they save something. But you certainly will not save if you are not under warranty.

yes it still does it when you change over to video,hdmi,pc so does this confirm its lcd panel or is there hope for anything else

Not the different inputs but when you bring up the TV's own user menus. Do you still see the lines then on the menu? If so it is most likely the panel.

yes i see lines under menu options the only time i dont see lines is when i hit input button and screen turns black which is normal except in the top left were it says hdmi,vid 1,ets it has double image but no lines think its the panel

Unfortunately I do think it is likely the panel if you still see the lines on the menu overlay too.

If you did not have any luck with the Sony-addicts at www.agoraquest.com (they've helped me in the past) then try the ebay seller. He could be a repair tech too.
If they truly test the boards, they should have some knowledge of what they do.

I would wait for more replies, but based on all the replies here and there you got so far, you might have to bite the bullet.
This would have been a great display to have an extended warranty from Sony, considering their service plans are quite inexpensive.
Of course, if you had one, you probably would not have had a problem. ;)
