HDMI Handshake - Dish VIP722 and Panasonic G10

I have a VIP722 provided by my cable company, who uses Dish as their source. The HDMI connection does not work. Absolutely nothing comes across. There have been multiple service visits. Several VIP722 units have been tried. All of the HDMI ports on the Panasonic P42G10 plasma have been tried. I downloaded and installed the latest firmware for the P42G10. Multiple HDMI cables have been tried. The HDMI connection worked OK on the Dish HDTV receiver, which was replaced last week by the VIP722. Fortunately the component A/V connection operates properly.

My question - is there a known HDMI handshaking issue with the VIP722 and P42G10? I have learned that the VIP722 does have issues with certain TV sets, but I cannot find any information on the P42G10. Any information will be most appreciated.

There are many, many issues with the HDMI HDCP handshake and it varies from manufacturer to manufacturer (there is no real standard so each manufacturer sets it as they think it should be implemented).

No matter though since you have it connected via component which will deliver you just as high quality HD picture as HDMI can from your Vip722.
