in-ceiling back speakers for 5.1

Hey all, I have my surround setup with the TV in the bookshelves and was thinking about about installing in-ceiling speakers for my back two channels. My ceiling over the couch (it drops there for the soffit) is 9 feet. Is that too high for the back speakers? The front three are at ear level. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks

it will be a slight compromise, but it will work and be better than nothing. In a Dolby 5.1 setup, the surrounds are more "sides" than rears anyway. Choose in-ceiling units with pivoting tweeters so you can aim them at the listening position.

I use a pair of bipolar in-ceiling speakers for surrounds. They work just fine.

I like bi-pole(s) rather than bi-polar as the latter are too schizophrenic for me.
