splitter from tv cable to improve fm reception

would like to split my tv cable and have it in my fm tuner, as i get very poor reception. Is this possible, and what equipment do i need?

The FM band is at the lower end of the VHF TV (channels 2 thru 13) band. A purely UHF TV antenna "may" help a little, but it is tuned to a band very far removed from the FM radio band.

Also, is the TV signal you receive strong and steady ? The reason I ask is that any splitter inserted into the line will cause some reduction in signal strength.

As m said, the FM band is in the lower end of the VHF TV band. It is actually between channels 6 and 7 and most VHF TV antennas are made such that there are not any elements for that band. If the antenna is rated for FM then it will help.

Now if your TV cable is from a cable system like Comcast they use the FM frequencies for TV channels, so there would be no help at all.

Have you tried a dipole FM antenna?
