This should help some people in our area that have trouble getting this station. It is nice to pick this station up in the DC area as they usually split the NFL market. Hoopitup and I have NO probs getting this channel but, we know a few who do!!

KDKA, WPXI and WTAE all applied for construction permits to put up more translators in the Pittsburgh area.
That is all fine and good for someone who lives on the south side or west of the city who had reception issues, but it does nothing for the people on the eastern side who enjoyed watching their stations for many years, but now cannot due to not enough range of their primary transmitter.
Increasing the power of a Class A station does very little for the people in the fringe areas.
You would need a substantial power increase to have any affect on anyone in my area more then 48 miles away from the transmitters.
If you would like to read a interesting story about power increases and how they work and what problems they cause - and do not solve.
Here was one little article about KDKA am radio in it's early days.
