Are plasma tv's not good to use as computer monitors? My last two computers came with LCD monitors and they are bright as heck and the best monitors i've ever had compared to the bulky CRT monitor's that i had before.

Plasma tv as computer monitorJammers 10-28-2009, 04:15 PM Are plasma tv's not good to use as computer monitors? BeeF 10-28-2009, 04:21 PM Plasma wouldn't be a good choice. Not to be blunt, but i feel like a good metaphor would be burning a fire on your wood floor instead of in the fireplace. If your going to use it occasionally as a monitor and for short periods or time, or your going to use your computer just to watch movies through the tv it would be okay. But all the static images on a computer desktop are going to lead straight to image retention and then burn in later on. gameguru1360 10-28-2009, 05:00 PM Plasma wouldn't be a good choice. Unfortunately at my company, one department who puts powerpoint presentations for our services opted for the 50" Panny plasmas got them despite our recommendations, so even though we have a screensaver that alters the placement of our logo, our logo is actually burned in a lower corner of the screen because the desktop was left on over one weekend! IGExpandingPan 10-29-2009, 01:59 AM Are plasma tv's not good to use as computer monitors? I lean toward LCD for this application. Good sharpness at close range, good brightness in full daylight, no issues with burn-in. You "can" go plasma, and suffer the same issue CRT monitors have with burn-in. Techlord 10-29-2009, 04:44 AM Plasma not a good idea for a computer monitor, the others pretty much nailed everything that need to be said. | |
