I've been looking at HDTVs for about 5 hours now, and am not able to find a model that sounds completely satisfactory.
For a while I was thinking the LN32B360, but then I saw a thread (which I can't link to apparently) where someone was having significant ghosting problems
Now I'm thinking plasma, but it seems like there aren't any really solid 32" models
ideally the tv would be relatively inexpensive, but I can compromise.
Thanks for your prospective help

Check out the Toshiba 32AV52R or 32AV502R. What I saw it had the best black levels, shadow detail and viewing angles in the 720p price range. No one makes a plasma smaller than a 42" model any more BTW.

Vizio did make a 32" plasma and sold it at Wal Mart, you might be able to find one if you search on ebay
Whats your price range? Cause 42" 720 Panasonic plasmas have great prices. I've found them for around 600 bucks sometimes if you can catch a deal somewhere.

my price range ideally would be sub 600, but I'm mostly concerned with getting a TV I'd be happy with.
I was definitely considering the panasonics, specifically the
Panasonic VIERA X1 Series TC-P42X1 42-Inch 720p Plasma HDTV
or the
Panasonic VIERA S1 Series TC-P42S1 42-Inch 1080p Plasma HDTV
at 42" is the 1080 vs 720 difference pretty apparent?
also, is plasma the way to go for video games?

the Toshiba also looks like a good buy- has anyone had firsthand experience with it and video games?

Well considering plasma doesn't suffer from motion blurr like LCD... Anyway if you reduce the contrast and brightness setting to reasonable levels you should be fine. Stay away from Vivid modes, Vivid mode ("torch mode" as we call it) is for ultra bright showrooms and not for the home lighting environment!
Plasma will be much better for gaming. And 10" bigger than a 32" is well... alot bigger. A 720p plasma would be awesome IMO especially at 42". 1080p would be a little better, but the "apparent" difference would only come into play with how far away your sitting. Either way the 720p plasma would be an EXCELLENT choice for gaming IMO and its what I would get.
