Surge protector +

Ok, so I HATE supporting Monster since they are usually over priced but they seem to have great surge protectors (key word is seem) and I like the HTS2000 with the whole noise filtering for the whole system (cable, ethernet etc...) and I've seen them on ebay for around $100 but I don't want to spend that much if I can get something of equal (or better) quality for less.
Can anyone point me in the right direction for an alternative to a surge protector + noise filter and all those types of bells and whistles I'd need for my HDTV, 7.1 Surround system, Xbox 360, computer connection etc...?

All help and links will be much appreciated.

Oh yea...one of the features I really liked with the Monster protector is that it works like a fuse box and will kill the power instead of how most surge protectors will continue working as an extension cord.

I'm really happy with my Panamax protector/conditioner. It's not cheap, but no more then the monster ones are and all Panamax makes in surge protectors and battery back ups. It will shut off power like you were saying if a high surge is detected.

APC products work great and are reasonable priced.

Any models you can recommend? And I want a surge protector...not those big expensive conditioner components.

Good thinking.
You should be able to find a decent stand-alone surge protector for less than $50.
Belkins are probably a good choice; google amazon, or even try your local Home Depot or Lowes.

Let's see . . .

Panamax M8-HT Pro is rated at 1875 Joules and costs $150

Cyber Power 1090 is rated at 3000 Joules and costs less than $30

Why would they be a waste of money? I thought Panamax is suppose to be a good company?

And like I said, I'm not going to be paying full retail price since I've found all of them on Ebay.

To a discerning buyer, E-bay has become the choice of last resort. More times than not the shipping charges, or the handling charges are enough to turn a consumer away. Not to mention that rarely do you see a no question return policy, but rather a re-stocking fee instead. Where E-bay was once the fun, so-called wild west of the on-line auction,,,it has turned into basically an on-line store that contains more than a few shady operators.

First of all, you get what you pay for with eBay and sometimes not even that. They are unsafe to buy from, too many scams, refurbished goods sold as new and so on.

Although some believe Panamax to be great products, they are overpriced. Units like the above mentioned Cyber Power 1090 would serve your needs just as well and it has a higher Joule rating (very important).

I found a CyberPower Home Theater 1030HT for $65 or a CyberPower 1010HT Home Theater 4200J for $52
Which would you say is the better buy?
(Also picking up the Avia 2 DVD from ebay for $19)
