Watching Movies

I have been watching movies from my computer to my HDTV for some time now but would like to upgrade my connection. I have a Gateway GM5260, Intel core 2 Duo E6300, 2 GB, GeForce 7300LE connected to a Samsung LN-S4095D 40" lcd with a DVI to VGA cable. I was told that I could not use the HDMI connected to the PC input on the HDTV? I know the DVI is Digital and the VGA is analog. I there a better way to connect them? I looked for a firmware update for my Samsung but couldn't find one, hoping they had one that would let me use a DVI to HDMI from my Gateway. I normally watch movies with VLC player but am thinking about subscribing to a university sports web site to watch basketball games online and would only do that if I could watch it on my HDTV and have it look good. Thanks

if you have a DVI out on your PC and a HDMI in on the HDTV use that.

or get a ati 4670 pcie card and use hdmi to hdmi, as the 4670 is a much better video card.

That would not be a problem. Before I bought a DVI to HDMI cable I wanted to make sure it would work with my HDTV.
