A little video made comparing the frame rates and screen tearing of both versions. I really got to say I'm impressed ND, no screen tearing at all and an improved frame rate :bowdown:

What exactly is screen tearing?

It's where the image "breaks" and the top part of the image is of a different frame to the lower part. It looks basically like a tear across the screen.

I can't wait to see Uncharted 2, I'm very impressed with the graphics on the first uncharted. Can't say I really noticed any serious frame rate issues with Uncharted 1, it dips on very rare occasions, but otherwise I thought it was fairly smooth.

Indeed the first one didn't have much if any problem with frame rate, it was mostly annoying screen tearing.

I dont want to blame this on UC1, but after that 3.0 firmware update I had 3 or 4 freezes where I had to hard shut down my PS3..

But the game was total awesomeness save for one or two parts :D

i loved the first uncharted too.. it had very few screen tearing but i guess that the fact that it even existed in the game was a let down to some reviewers, i dont blame them being that the PS3 is suppose to be this almight powerful machine right..

i finally got to pick up UC2 last night, i was left with $21.77 after yesterdays paycheck and knew i couldnt pick it up, i was so fucking pissed, so i ended up doing a trade three get it free at EBgames.. i traded COD4, folklore and MGS4.... titles that i know have a %2 chance that i will ever play again. with CODMW2 soon to be out, it made perfect sense to ditch COD4, i dont even play it anymore now that im hooked on KZ2 MP. as for folklore, thats a 2yr old game that i already played, beat and played the add-ons for it, my next rpg will be FFXIII next spring. and as for the poor MGS4, i played the game alot for the first 2 weeks i believe.. i clocked in a little over 9hrs(as per my saved game file) and yet i never got past the FIRST boss....

i have to say, i just played UC2 for 1hour(at 10% completed) and the graphics are without a doubt a improvement over the first (unlike R1 to R2), i'll be playing this game all night tonight once the kiddies go to bed :), thank god the wife is away too. the game is freaking awesome, from controls to voice acting, even the story is getting interested with the whole "lets look for marco polos ships"

There is a 3.01 optional firmware update that specifically deals with the Uncharted 1 freezing issue. I suggest you download it to a USB stick on your PC and update your ps3 that way.

How to update via USB stick:

Update data download procedure

1. Create a folder on the storage media in which to save the update data.
Using a PC, create a folder named “PS3” on the storage media or USB device. Within the PS3 folder, create a folder named “UPDATE”.
2. Download the update data and save it in the "UPDATE" folder created in step 1.

Yup mine locked up on me tonight :( I can see why the "monsters" spoiled it for people. I personally didn't think it was the monsters as such, more the "survival" rooms that they are introduced in.

Actually I think you have a point, but still any monster that can one hit you is a bit ridiculous.. I mean Drake can take a shotgun blast to the chest and survive but one scratch from a monster and he's dead?!?!?!

There was quite a few "nasty deaths" from later scenes anyway IMO. The end of game "showdown" in particular I found frustrating until I "twigged" the pattern.

On Normal, I didn't tend to find the monsters were 1 hit killing me too often. Have completed the game now and am quite chuffed with myself :p I didn't start on easy :D heheh

Think I'm gonna have to flog a few games to fund Uncharted 2 as I've enjoyed playing through Uncharted 1 and come away wanting more. Feel like I cheated Naughty Dog by getting it for about £6 (it was £8.99 on a 3 for 2 offer).

Oh ND has been paid well Mike, I wouldnt worry about it. Just so long as it was bought new is all that matters to them.

Now THAT is an upgrade. Does anyone have side by side comparison shots of Gears 1 vs 2 and Halo 3 vs ODST? :cool:

As a mod I assume you have some evidence to show where I said it does not impress..

I dont think it (UC2) looks much better than the first, that is true, but never once have I said either game does not impress me. In fact I have said it plenty of times that UC1 and UC2 are on my short list of best games of this gen. However neither game is perfect, UC1 and UC2 have issues such as glitches, freezes, animation stutters and wierd accurances like any game does..

In fact in UC2 i've had lockups, getting stuck in textures(as in myself), bad guys doing the running man to some pillar, and some collision stuff here and there. Overall, very minor. The lockup was annoying, but seeing as the game has very good checkpoints, not a big deal. Both games have more good then bad in them and that is why they are rated/regarded as perfection.
