It gets harder and cheaper as you go through.
I don't like it. I hope IW fixes the difficulty thing in MW2. That's not how to make a game hard.
Halo and Uncharted are good examples of good high difficulty games.

actually i find the challenge of veteran mode to be perfect. Yes it is avery hard and yes you will get frustrated. but the return is one you hit a checkpoint or complete a misson you also get that "YES" reaction. the levels are not that long and the checkpoints in W@W are closer together than MW1. so if anything i would think that MW2 will actually be harder if the space out the checkpoints like they did in the last one.
Oh and to answer your question. they get harder.. much harder... take it slow and move up and then back. this allows your AI friends to move up with you and you can take the flank. back and forth and learn where the checkpoints are.

It's easier (IMO) to move through really quickly since the enemies will respawn infinitely unless you take their ground.
Infinite spawn just shows lack of imagination, it gives you a false sense of something being hard because its challenging and not just cheap.. The Call of Duty franchise is a big time offender, dont get me wrong the premise and design in levels is nice, but the infinite spawn is just dumb... Killzone 2 also had these moments, not as much as COD but it did have them, its not skill to run past some invisible line and watch enemies just stop coming all of a sudden...

I hope they don't go apes*** with the infinite spawn points in MW2. But I agree with the above poster, as maddening as some of the levels are the payoff when you finally get through it is pretty worth it. For example I'm still damn proud of 1000/1000 in CoD4 cause that was a bitch.

I never got past no fighting in the war room on veteran. Gave up. Should try it again.
It's bad enough with the grenades, but you can't use the move up, pull back technique cuz of the damn clock and lack of good checkpoints.
I'm halfway through WaW now. Haven't gotten to the dreaded corkscrew that everyone says is ridiculous.
