Damn it, I just bought a 120Gb slim, I knew I should have waited, but my damn 60Gb was giving me a lot of crap lately and it could barely handle Uncharted 1 so I did not think it would even come to close to handling UC2....
250Gb Slim for $349.99, thats double the HDD for $50 more, that doesnt make sense to me but hey I may sell my 120Gb off and get that when it comes out.. I rather have it and not use it, then need it and not have it...

I'd say that's a fair price considering how much a 250GB HDD costs nowadays.

With the way Sony are heading with PlayStation, a 250gb certainly makes sense. My 60gb seems to be fairing okay (Sony love Europe :p) touch wood, so hopefully that'll see me through, but I'd consider a 250gb slim if not, what with the PSP Go looking like it's intended to have games stored on the PS3 as a hub (16gb doesn't go that far if the games are up to 1.8gb each... I think thats what a UMD can hold). I love the current Sony portfolio, it's actually more stylish looking than Nintendo's range.

Dude... you'd lose money if you did that. Unless they come out with a bundle deal that makes it more worthwhile.
Keep your 120. Buy another HDD and put it in there. Fry's has a 320GB Toshiba drive for the $50 difference. Or you could actually save some cash and go with the 250 for $40. Do you live near a Fry's?

I'd have to agree with AWOL. It to would be more cost effective to upgrade the drive on its on versus losing value on the pre-owned 120GB system.
I'd offer the 120GB to a friend a 20/60/80GB PS3 for like ~$30-40, and then offer to install it and then just pay the differences for a 320GB (like $20-30 on top of it).

See I always overlook something like this, I forget that I am able to install my own HDD, good call Awol and Rail...

I think PS3s can also benefit from faster harddrives, cant remember though.

Heres a 320gb 7200rpm HD for $80. There may be better deals somewhere else though.

While a 7200 will work, many have stated they don't recommend them as they generate extra heat that the PS3 was not designed to dissipate.

The difference is negligible.
