Looks like cross game voice chat on the PlayStation 3 has been confirmed. A Naughty Dog developer going by the name "ReklissAbandon" accidentally confirmed the feature on the official PlayStation message boards (via Wearetheinternetz)
Asked why it's possible to spectate on an opponent when it might give one side who uses Skype an unfair advantage during an Uncharted 2 clan battle, ReklissAbandon wrote, "I think they wanted people to have fun and ejoy [sic] the show since all dead players can talk to each other no matter what team you are on."

"But I will suggest it anyway. Not to mention that the next PS3 firmware update is going to allow cross game chat. So if players use that instead of in-game communication then they would also be able to communicate enemies [sic] positions..."

Other users immediately noticed the unintended reveals, and the message was promptly deleted. But not before word got out on the Internet, as it always does. Oops.

Expect the next firmware update, and cross game voice chat, sometime before the end of the year.

No more fighting points left for live over PSN. If you got more friends on the 360 its understandable but now that PSN has matched and beat live in some areas its time to start asking for live to be free.

I was thinking about this the other day when I realized that the mic support in the latest games I got (uncharted2, and even a little PSN game Zombie Apocalypse) was very good... quality was actually amazingly similar, made me wonder if Sony has the voice code worked out already. Guess so.

About time to with UC2, MW2, MAG, and BFBC2 coming out soon they needed to get this shit right. I myself rarely use a mic I prefer to mute everyone pretty much but to alot of people this is a big deal. I guess if they can make it where you talk to friends only I may begin to use my mic if not fuck listening to random jackass's.

I agree. I get tired of listening to a bunch of morons talk about absolutely nothing. I hope this is true!

Does that mean they've found a way around the whole Microsoft cross game console voice chat patent they were struggling with? :D

I have to say I'm edging closer towards selling my 360 at the moment as I don't want to spend £60 on a wireless adapter, nor do I want a 15m ethernet cable trawling around my front room and there have been just 3 or so 1st party releases this year with very little currently announced for 2010. It should get more interesting once Natal is revealed, but the way 360 prices are dropping it'd be just as cheap to rebuy one next year when there is a 250gb console out with Natal included.
