I need two 12 ft hdmi for an install. The ones on monoprice have a ferite core on each cable end!? These are half the price of the hdmis without the ferite core. I am wondering what is the dofference? Will performance be the same. I cant see paying $11 a cable when I can pay $5 for the ferite core ones. I need to run the cables inside drywall if that makes a difference.

The ferrite core is a choke and has impedance characteristics that can be employed as a filter and safeguard to muffle unwanted interference in the electronic circuit. If the two cables were IDENTICAL except for the choke, I'd want one with the ferrite core/choke. As the one without the core is more costly, you can be sure it has far better shielding (from outside interference) and does not need chokes. It is less costly to use the chokes than include the comparable shielding in the cable. Buy the one without . . . for the better cable. The one with the ferrite cores may work perfectly fine, however. Ferrite cores do WORK-- but it is still better to shield the entire cable from interference than to filter or choke it out at the end of the cable.

Go to www.monoprice.com for all of your high quality HDMI cable needs at low, low prices. I believe they even have some rated for in wall installation.
