Reception Mystery

Here's a strange one - I recently got a nice widescreen Sony Bravia and, wanting the best possible picture, installed an amplifier/splitter and all new R6U cable throughout (because I'm running to 5 TV's). One TV is the problem, and the problem is that on some (but not all) of the higher channels I'm not getting audio - except during the commercials! An ad for a local car dealer comes on, good sound - it returns to the program, no sound. The cable to this set normally runs thru a DVD/VCR so the first thing I did was bypass the DVD/VCR - no difference. I've tried setting the control on the amp/splitter at both extremes, no difference. First chance I get I'll substitute another TV for the problem one, which will tell me definitely whether it's the cable or the TV. But I was wondering if anyone else has run into this.

Thanks...

are you on cable/sat. or using an antenna for local over-the-air broadcasts

Cable - I should have stated that. Problem channels are in the low 30's, among others.
