I have a 37 inch Insignia LCD TV. When using the built in TV tuner how do I divert sound to an external stereo tuner when all it has for connection is a red and white rca cables? I plugged them into an output on the TV but not gettign any sound off them? Do i need to change some internal setting so the TV knows to use the audio output for sound rather than internal speakers?

You didn't give the model number of the TV, so we cannot answer that. You need to list the brand/model of all equipment that will be used for us to help you. ;)

Are you sure you are using an audio OUTput connection from the TV? Do you have a optical output on the TV?

Its a 37 inch Insignia NS-LCD37. The receiver is an old (10+ year old) Quasar stereo with red and white outputs on the back of it.

Look at page 4 of the manual (page 6 of the pdf) this link for the location of the L/R audio outputs:

Is that the connection you are using to send the audio to the receiver? If it is make note of the label for the audio input you are attaching the other end to on the receiver, and make sure you change the receiver to that input. ;)
