Hi all
Well I finally decided to get the panasonic TC-P50V10 with the help from this forum.
Now I fiqured I might as well get a blu-ray player and home sound system.
I saw the Panasonic 1250W Blu-ray Disc Home Theater Sound System, SC-BT300 and it was just what I wanted, everthing in one easy to setup package and it looks like the perfect size for my living room. Walmart has it for a pretty good price, under $580.00.
The only things I will be connecting the the bt300 is my comcast explorer 8300HD dvr and my tv.
I'm I getting a good system that will make a happy camper?
thanks for you folks that have helped me in my hdtv search.

As long as the Panasonic Blu-ray player/receiver has an audio input available so you can connect your cable box to it for sound, it should be just fine...

Hi, thanks for the reply.
If I have hdmi on my cable box, do I still need a second connection for the sound? It also has an optical connection, too.

This system has NO HDMI inputs. Only an output. In fact is has NO video inputs at all. In the future, if you desire/need HDMI connections, you'll be out of luck. And, yes, you WILL have to run an optical cable from your cable box to the receiver. There are 2 optical audio connections, but they also are limited as to what signals they pass to your receiver ( no lossless audio ). And remember, by purchasing a system such as this, if your Blu-Ray player malfunctions, the entire system is down while it's being repaired. IMHO, if you are looking towards the future, you would be better off with a separate Blu-Ray and HTiB, such as the Onkyo HT-S6100 or 6200, the HT-S7100 or 7200. Accessories4Less usually has some pretty good deals on these systems.
However, if you are looking only for immediate needs, have no current need for video switching, and plan to upgrade in the future, then the Panny will suit your needs for now. :2cents
I agree at some point you likely will regret buying such a limited sound system and will wish you bought a system with a real receiver and industry standard speakers that can be upgraded and has multiple HDMI inputs.
