Hey all,
So i get it...........eventually everything will be high def. I am in the market for a TV since mine broke. I am unsure about what to get. I am thinking 32" since I am a fresh college grad with little money. These TV's are still 600+ bucks!!!
Do you see the price of high def going down in the very near future???
Thanks
Ben

Price for the HDTV's in general are going down now and will continue to go down.
Lowest price I've seen so far for an HDTV was $599 !
walmart sells them and k-Mart..among other places.
Go for it.....buy it Now ! :yippee:

Pay off yor college loans,,give it 2 years before you make the big "dive". Although HD is available in various formats, the content is still lacking. $600 bucks would give you a basic "intro" to the HD world but would only dissappoint you in the long run. Pay off some college, save some money,,enjoy life other than the tube,,,and dive in when the gettin's good.

I agree with Oblioman... if your a strapped college grad, skip the HD for now. You can get a fabulous looking SD set for about $150!
Check out THIS (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?id=pcmcat56200050014&type=category&parentCatID=false&initialize=true&_requestid=108221) link for a ton of good TV's under $200. Note their are 27inch models with S-Video, Comb filters, and flat tubes.
HDTV's for $600 and less are going to require quite a few compromises that I just wouldn't be willing to make.
If your still determined to jump into HDTV on the cheap though:
1080i Widescreen Toshiba for $599 (http://www.crutchfield.com/S-EcWUk5kHMHr/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=148350&I=05226HF85)
Widescreen Phillips for $503 (http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Philips-26-HDTV-Monitor-26PW8402-/sem/rpsm/oid/94929/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do)
NON-widescreen HDTV for $379 (http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Advent-27-HDTV-Monitor-HT2778A-/sem/rpsm/oid/124686/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do)
I think the Toshiba is the only one I would seriously consider, its the only one with HDMI inputs, and its the only one that actually advertises the acceptance of ALL HD formats.
