Hi - We recently bought a Canon HF200 camera and our memory card is full so I have downloaded the movies to our hard drive. I would like to be able to make a DVD that includes all of the movies in HD format and play that DVD in our Blu-Ray player.

I've read some of the threads on here, but am still a bit confused. Can somebody please let me know what I need to do to convert the MTS files to a format that can maintain HD quality and then burn that on to a DVD? I downloaded a program named Free HD Converter, but not sure if I can use it. If possible, I would like the DVD to contain chapters and each chapter would be one movie.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Download this - http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/download/trials/moviestudiopp

it has a bit of a learning curve but will do exactly as you want. It is a 30 day free trial giving you plenty of time to decide to buy or not. Pinnacle 12 or 14 will do the same thing with less of a learning curve,,,but the trial me used did not recognize me camera (HF20). Please keep in mind that the average computer may edit the video, but rendering times will be in hours (maybe days) depending on the length of video. One must have a powerful processor.

Thanks Oblioman! If I don't need to edit the video, just burn the raw footage to a DVD, do I need something as powerful as Sony Movie Studio?

Most players will not read the raw data. It must be compiled, and in your case, rendered into an image file, something that the dvd player can read. Please keep in mind that the software is merely a tool to the ends, your cpu is the workhorse in all of this.
