PC to LCD TV - DVI to HDMI

Hey,

I have two questions I am hoping I can get some answers to. First I guess I will lay out the hardware I am working with:

Sony Bravia KDL-32L4000
Radeon X1950 CrossFire.

When hooking up my computer to my TV through DVI to HDMI I get a horrible picture quality. It is really bright and fairly grainy.

I remember reading something in the TV owners manual that said to only hook it up through VGA. I tried this and it works but I am assuming I would get better picture quality with a DVI or HDMI connection. Is there any way to get the DVI-HDMI set-up to work with this TV or does it have to use VGA.

Second question, if the above will only take VGA what would someone suggest as a 32" LCD TV (which will be hooked up using DVI-HDMI) to get instead of the Sony one I currently have?

I have a sony a10 at home and have hooked it up every way possible (HDMI, SVGA, Component). SVGA was by far the best of all of them. HDMI provided a horrible picture until the proper resolutions were set once they were properly set the results were not as great as expected.

If I rember correctly when I hooked mine up through HDMI I ended up with simalar results and it ending up being something stupid like wrong refresh rate (59 hz instead of 60) or the number of colors was reduced below 32bit by default. (can't rember which). Of course you will need to set the display resultion to a supported resolution (perferable the "native" resolution).
