i have a sharp BDHP21U blu-ray player w/ the 10/05/09 firmware update and snow white won't load. i get the previews and then the you may see a blank screen for 2-3 minutes but then the blank screen never goes away. anyone else having issues?

New to the site, but yes, I am also having the same issues. I even upgraded my firmware from it's older firmware (8something) to the newest firmware (the pack released on 10/5/09) and still I get nothing.

On a side note, the new firmware makes it take forever to shut my player off, and I keep having to unplug it now. It never did that before with the old firmware.

yea we had to watch the included dvd copy. as for the shut off issue, i may have had a problem. i do remember yanking the power cord, but i cant remember why.

the movie was for the wife and kid so i really dont care, but it would have been nice to see what the HD transfer would have looked like. but hey it was only $10

Has anyone tried reverting back to the original firmware to see if it works?

i did the the 10/05/09 update after trying the disc. the last update i had was from may? so the disc didn't play and i went online to see if there was anything recent and i seen the 10/05/09 update, a day before the snow white disc date. i thought great, they planned on this and heres the update. but neither firmware version worked.

i dout its the discs. i was gonna return mine too, but the previews come up and the load screen. it just goes blank cause whatever disney has loaded on there to protect it from copy protection. or something like that.

I have the Sharp Aquos bd-hp21u. Snow White blu ray would play the previews and not the feature movie. I went into settings and selected to allow internet access. (I have mine linked to the internet for BD Live)and it now works just fine. Maybe this helps?

I can't get it to play on my JVC XV-BP1 either it's wierd to because it won't even load to the previews, just stops seconds after closing the tray. Never had any other issues with this player.

Man, I just ordered mine off of amazon,... was hoping to play this on my ps3, now I'm nervous hoping it will work. If this is a universal problem, I'm sure through firmware updates it'll get fixed soon.

It played fine in the Panasonic BD-35 player using
Firmware Version 2.0

my 21u doesn't have the ethernet port either... do you have the 22u?

and are you in the disc's settings or on the player's settings menu? i get no play movie/settings menu. only the previews play and then the screen that has the crystals or whatever they are changing colors as it loads and then it goes to a screen saying that it may take up to 2 minutes to load depending on what type of player you have. the screen goes blank and nothing happens. i even let it sit for 20-30 minutes.

i emailed sharp about it and they said they are going to test the disc.

Hey guys, maybe the problem is in the BD disk and not in your devices?
