I'm kinda vaguely interested in doing some surround sound type things. Or possibly a monitor upgrade instead... in the meantime I wanna look before I leap on both fronts.
My computer is my main...entertainment device. I use it to listen to the radio, play movies (no blu atm, not in any hurry for that really), lots of video games. and I use a vizio va26L as my main speakers right now. I have an elderly yamaha amp and a couple of old ar2ax speakers that have plenty of sentimental value, but well, they're old. They still sound lovely, but...
I've been kinda gazing at the Onkyo HT-S5200 7.1 system. My computer claims it does 7.1, I believe it as it tends not to lie to me too terribly often.
I'm in a moderately cramped and weird sorta W shaped apartment. With my tv/computer being around the center part of the W. Is a 7.1 system worth anything to me? or should I go pick up a 80$ 5.1 logitech wtfthisiscrap thing from wally world?
As an added bonus, this would be my first surround anything system. Though I have thought about running some speaker wire across the ceiling and buying another couple of refurbished ar2ax's and scaring the crap out of my neighbors when I fire up Left 4 Dead.
