I currently have a JVC THC50 surround system. I am looking at the Onkyo Ht-S5200 because it has 4 HDMI and 4 digital audio connections. Accessories4less has it for $349.00. Also the Sony HT-SS360, which doesn't seem to be too bad for the price. Does anyone have any experience with either of these? Would the Onkyo HT-S6200 be worth the extra $200 it costs?

Sony audio products are not very good, many early failures. I would go for the Onkyo myself...

DEFINITELY go with the Onkyo. Also check out the Onkyo HT-S6100 or 7100 if they have any left. Either one of those would be a big benefit over the 5200 and may be about the same price. :)

Accessories4less has the 5200 for $339, the 6100 for $429, and the 7100 for $529. All are refurbished. What are the benefits that would justify the differences in price? Is the sound quality that much better? My 622 Dish HDDVR, Toshiba XA2 HDDVD player, and Philips Bluray player all have HDMI outlets and Digital toslink or coax outlets. Also do you think the audio quality would be much improved over my current JVC surround system?

The 5200 doesn't decode the lossless audio formats ( Dolby TrueHD and DTS MasterAudio ) and doesn't provide HDMI switching, whereas the 6100 and 7100 do both. The speakers are better in the 6100/7100 also. Yes, you'll notice a difference over your current system, especially if you use HDMI from your components into the receiver. :)

I ended up buying a 6200 at HH Gregg. It was on sale for $566.+. I couldn't decide whether I wanted to spend that much, so the salesman lowered the price to $499.00. I hope it is as good a system as so many people say.

I've read that the receiver gets pretty hot. I hope that doesn't become a problem. Also it doesn't upconvert like the 6100, but I don't have much analog stuff.

This system is a major improvement over the JVC I was using. The picture quality seems to be better. I was using a Monoprice HDMI 401E switch. The sound is better than I expected with DISH 622. It should really be impressive on my HDDVD or Bluray!
