Aaxatech P1 pico projector review

So while I'm still researching my options for a home projector, I thought I'd take up some time playing with the pico projectors that's coming out. Here's my contribution to the community in case anyone here's been wondering about these little gems.

I ordered the P1 projector, VGA converter bundle which you get a nice 50% discount on if you buy a projector, Zune cable and a tripod kit @ http://www.aaxatech.com/products/kp190_p1_pico_projector.htm. The product arrived quickly and was packed well. This is what the package looks like:

It's a pretty nice small compact unit, but how much can I possibly expect out of such a tiny thing?

The battery pack installs similar to a cordless phone where there's a lead coming out of the battery that needs to be plugged in. It's a bit tricky, but if you have like a pen or something, makes it easier. There's a charging light on the projector that turns off once the battery is fully charged.

Transferring files from the computer was a breeze since the moment I plugged in the USB cable, my computer instantly recognized the mass storage device. Once the files are on, it's easy to find in the onboard menu and play. The only thing is, not every codec is installed, so Aaxatech recommends converting all your files w/ Format Factory's software which is a free download.

After connecting the projector to my laptop via VGA convertor, I snapped these 2 pictures pretty quickly, notice how dark the room is.

I'm still not quite sure how I feel that I can only use this in a dark room. I guess it's not a problem because I don't think I'd particularly be in a bright room when using my home projector either. Small gadget for small screens I guess since anything over 60" becomes hard to see and I find myself squinting alot. 36"-48" seems ideal for this.

They're releasing the P2 pretty soon and I may return this for that as it's 3x brighter, although pricier too...well see what I decide on later, but just thought I'd leave a small contribution for now.
