PS3's and Regions

Alright I live in the USA so I am assuming that my PS3 is a Region 1 since I bought it in the US. And since the USA is denoted as Region 1.

My question is this... Is it possible that it is a Region Free PS3? One that can play all Region DVD's and Blu-rays? 2,3...

If so how could I tell? If not how can I tell?

Thanks

I'm looking at a DVD and or Blu-ray version of a movie and I am seeing that the DVD's are all basically Region Free (Worldwide) but the Blu-ray version is B2.

Virtually all Blu-ray players including the PS3 that are sold in North America would be region A. If you wanted a region B PS3 you would have to order one from Amazon.co.uk or some other European webiste. There are a few BD players sold in the U.S. that are region free though. The only two I can think of offhand is the LG BH200 (plays HD DVD and BD), which becomes region free with a remote hack. There's also Sherwood's newest BD player, which is region free out of the box I believe. The Sherwood can be had new for les than $200 and the BH200 has been discontinued, but you can find it for less than $200 as well on eBay.
