My new Samsung HDTV doesnt have svideo like my satellite reciever! So I am forced to use a crappy coaxial cable to hook it up. I am wondering if connecting it to the satellite box with rca is supposed to be a slightly better picture? I tried it and it looks slightly worse and I see more pixelations!

Since you have a new HDTV, why not upgrade your satellite receiver to HD as well.
With the HD receiver you can use HDMI or Component conntections and that will not only allow you to see HD, but also greatly improve SD as well.
Until then, expect a crappy picture.

Thanks for the advice but that did not answer my question. I am aware that I have an HDTV and what it takes to make it HD. I want to know if there is supposed to be an improvement, even if slight, between coaxial and rca cables?

Most RCA as you call them, cables are coaxial.
Coaxial is the cable construction, RCA is the connector end.

Component video, digital audio, and analog audio cables are all the same design. Component video and digital audio cables are spec'd at 75 ohms, which is the minimum standard for video. Analog audio cables can drop below 75 ohms. You should use a 75 ohm cable.

Ok let me clarify. Are the red, yellow, and white cables a better picture than screwing on a single coaxial cable?

If you are talking about a feed like from a satellite or cable company, yes you would get a better signal.

Funny when I hook up the red, yellow, and white cables, and view the picture quality it looks slightly worse than the coaxial cable. My tv takes both so I can switch back and forth between the two inputs to look at the picture. The red, yellow, and white cables show more a more pixely picture, and words have more blocky pixels around the edges, while the coaxial hookup smooths that out, and less pixels are present speed and calrity seems to improve.

If your receiver has a good RF modulator and it does good job of channel conversion, I would expect the RF connection to be better than the composite cable (red/white/yellow) connection.
