I'm having some problems with my Sony KD-34XBR970. The menu keeps flashing on screen at random intervals and none of the buttons (except the on/off menu button, and on/off power button) work on the TV, and none of the buttons work on the remote. I even put fresh batteries in the remote. Still nothing. It's really annoying and I've only had the tv for 3 years. Any suggestions?

The fact that you cannot control the TV with its own buttons seems to indicate a serious problem with the TV's main board. If you cannot turn the TV on and off with the remote even after putting in fresh batteries that also seems to indicate a serious problem that needs servicing. However, try the following anyways. Push the TV TV button on the remote to make sure that it is sending signals to the TV rather than to another peripheral such as a DVD player. That might give you some control of the TV.

On three occasions my XBR960 was non-responsive and the problem was corrected unplugging the set for a minute then (fortunately) all returned to normal when plugged back in and powered up.
Good luck!

Nope. No difference. I'm thinking of popping it open and cutting the menu wire. The picture is fine, but that menu is a hassle.:banghead:
