Hi guys. So I got my Onkyo sr607 hooked up to my 42" G15 along with my blu-ray player and KEF KHT1005.2 syrround sound to find two problems that I am hoping someone can help me with.
1. First off I have a constant humming coming from the speakers. I am assuming that its probably a speaker wire run too close to one of the power wires but I haven't had time to dig into it yet. Could anything else be causing this?
2. Next is that after running the Audyssey program on the receiver to set up the configuration of the speakers, the volume on the Cable input is very low. The volume only goes to a max of 75 and I need to keep the volume in about 65 just to comfortably hear the TV. When I pop a blu-ray on though, if I were to put it up to 60 it would be way too loud. So watching bly-rays I have the volume more so around 40-45. Is this due to the Audyssey and what it does to set everything up?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

You need to cure the hum problem before Audyssey can properly setup the volume levels.
Try switching the plug around, plugging it into another outlet etc. But fix this before troubleshooting the volume problem.
How do you have the sound from the cable box connected to the TV?

Thats what I was expecting to hear. I will be looking more so into the hum tomorrow. Anyways the cable box is connected directly to the receiver on the CBL/SAT input with the, what looks like composite type of cables but I know they put through an HD signal (3 video and 2 audio plugs). The HDMI from the cable box to the receiver will put through the audio but not the video for some reason. The cable guy who installed it apparently mentioned the HDMI on it wasn't working correctly thats why he used the other cables.
I should probably ask here, is there anything that I can buy and wrap the cables with to reduce interference from any power cables? I am going to go put some cable wraps so that I can organize the cables since right now that are a bit of a mess in the back, just wanted to get everything hooked up to make sure it all works properly.
**Interesting thing I just noticed as my girlfriend was heating something up in the microwave... when she was running the microwave the humming got louder until the microwave shut off...

You need to use EITHER the HDMI connection OR the component connection (red, blue, green cable) with analog audio (red, white cable), not both as this may be what is creating the hum.

Yes, I am only using the component connection. The red/green/blue with red/white cables. I am not using both the component and HDMI from the cable box to the receiver. Just component.

So I fixed my problems. When they Audyssey runs it does something to the sub settings that makes a constant hum on it. When i reverted to the default settings and not the Audyssey ones the humming went away and also the volume problem on the CBL/SAT input. I can listen to it comfortably on a volume level of 35.
Has anyone else had this problem? I am thinking of running the Audyssey with the subwoofer off. Either that or figuring out how to manual set it all up.
