Does Monster make ANY good surge protectors?

Just curious as everyone bashes them on here and I am looking for a surge protector for my G15. Any help? I ask because I can get decent deals on Monster products.

Sure, Monster has some good products, but they are no better nor worse than anyone else's. And, unfortunately, they usually charge up to 10x too much for them. Their cables are WAAYYY overpriced. I haven't compared the surge protectors, but most likely they are charging anywhere from 2x to 5x what everyone else charges for the same thing. Before you buy, be sure to check out www.monoprice.com . The marketing strategy and pricing of M products is the issue most have. I don't think their quality is substandard, you can buy the same level of quality for less money, is the point.
I think their power protection is pretty even and competitive with other brands.
Of course, why buy any Monster product when there are alternatives just as good, just on principle alone.

Can anyone help me with finding something fairly cheap? I depleted my cash with my TV/Mount/Cable purchase (I purchased Monoprice stand/cables don't worry ;) ). Im looking to spend around $30. I just need something good for now, until I have some money again ( I don't know how long that will be though)

If it blows up you can put it on your insurance.

I believe Panamax, Tripplite and APC both make widely available power products, over the full price range. Good products. Belkin & Cyberpower would be a couple of alternatives. Good choices, you don't HAVE to buy Monster products.

Avoid their moderate priced goods, those then to be sub par. If you can get a huge discount on their high end goods, why not.

But really, $30 will get you into a damned good surge protector. $30 in monster will get you into something on par with your average $10 surge protector. It isn't "bad", just overpriced.

I would agree, on the stuff most consumers would head for when they walk into a B&M store, would have higher prices on anything with a Monster label.

When I said 'competitive' I was thinking more of the larger line conditioners, and a couple of M products got very good reviews by Widescreen Review, and other pubs, right along with APC and Furman. ..and prices were right in line. Of course, many will think ALL power conditioners in those categories are all over-priced.

There is a nice Monster power conditioner for sale at the Emotiva Forum for $110.00 shipped. (no affiliation to me)
