Frequent drop outs on OTA

For some reason it appears that my receiver (622) can't hold onto OTA signals. At this point they are almost unwatchable. They used to be rock solid. Not I get the annoying warning and pixelization frequently. I've checked all the connection and re-scanned the locals, but still have the problem. Any ideas on what to do??

Thanks

Maybe your antenna needs to be realigned...I would also suggest checking all of the connections and fittings from the antenna to your DVR.

Most likely there is nothing you can do. The OTA tuner in the Dish receivers do not handle some signals (like multi-path) very well. My VIP222 has the same problem. The OTA signal can be 70% one second 0% the next and then back to 70% giving me a momentary yellow error screen.

It would be great if Dish would make a better OTA tuner (like the one in their DTVPal) for their receivers. But then they are not in the OTA business.

I definitely agree that the Dish tuners are poor. I have both a 722 and 612 receiver and both experience the same condition. Hours with the CSR and I gave up hope. I think my locals will be on Dish yet this year. I hope so.

I've also heard from many that the tuners in thos DISH receievers are pretty much crap. I use the channelmaster CECB, and it works like a DREAM.

Mine work just fine...in all three ViP units.
