Anyone have pros or cons with the OPPO BD83 to share?

I own the player and think it is excellent. If you want Blu-ray/DVD-A/SACD/DVD-V/HDCD/CD all in one player, there isn't anything else close to Oppo in terms of value in my opinion. If all you want is Blu-ray and have HDMI 1.3a audio processing already, you can buy something less expensive and probably be very happy.

I own one. It's an excellent player and without fault for all blu-ray which is a given. Areas where it excels are load speed, upscaling of SD DVDs, and audio playback. Haven't found a con yet.
You won't be looking over your shoulder for a better unit to hit the market (for quite a while, anyway) if you buy one of these.
Also, I had a couple of tech setup questions and e-mailed them to Oppo. I had an accurate, concise reply back in 20 minutes!

I agree. A stellar performer with exceptional customer service. What more could you want. The SD upconversion is as good as any I have seen including units costing 5 times more.

The Oppo BDP-83 is on par to the $4,500 denon unit in regards to video performance, all the reviews I've read compare the Oppo to the Denon! The fact that a $500 dollar Blu-ray player can compete with a $4,500 Denon unit is in itself amazing to say the least! Oppo's customer service is surprisingly the best I've ever seen in any company!
