On a recent visit to Ebay, I did a quick check on speakers and audio systems for sale. After entering "Bose" into the Ebay search engine for audio equipment, I found that a full 10% of the listings are for people selling their Bose systems and speakers ! Then, after subtracting the raw speakers, center channel speakers and accessories listed, the number grew to 20%. If you subtract the online COMPANIES that are selling NEW equipment, it grows to a MUCH higher percentage, approaching 40 - 50 % of all used equipment being sold by individuals !!! That is an INCREDIBLE percentage !! Gee, I wonder WHY so many people want to get rid of their Blose, er, Bose junk ?? :D

That is interesting. At one time Bose were a respectable speaker. Seems as if they have sunk their future by a truly bloated advertising campaign,,,,,and nothing towards research and development.

I disagree that it once was a respectable speaker. There has always been better speakers for a much more reasonable price and they don't need all the wiz bang stuff to fake out your ears so that you think you are hearing great sound when you actually aren't.
That is why they (Bose) are so reluctant to have their speakers displayed beside others (real speakers).

Well,,,it was the '70's when me actually owned a set of 301's. Still suffering a hangover,,,can me be forgiven??? ;)

Almost forgot,,,still own me an old set of JBL 4406 studio's that certainly outperform anything the 301's could do. Pull them out of the closet a couple of times a year to rub the walnut and give them a bit of exercise.

The 901s sounded good to a lot of people when they first came out. They came with an active equalizer that was required so often a new preamp or amp had to be bought also. That's why they were pushed so heavy back then.

And they simply could not be ripped apart, no matter what amperage ya tossed at them. Not that they had any pristine sound quality,,,but they were loud. But, we have all moved on from a simple loud to a discerning loud (if ye wish) to a discerning quality which Bose simply does not deliver for the price they demand.

Every time I go inside a Bose store, I always want to buy something.
But I end up leaving empty-handed because I feel like there's always something better.

Me too! There's some nice looking home theater setups, but to me it seems a bit pricey whereas I can get almost the same setup but for way less such as a nicey Onkyo system. Bose does sound good but only for certain types of music such as classical, easy listening and jazz. I listen to all kinds...jazz, pop, hip hop, r&b, heavy metal, rock, etc and the Bose doesn't seem to sound too full in bass with the heavy stuff.
Bose sounds like JL Audio in the car audio field. People praise JL Audio, but a lot of JL Audio stuff is too pricey and you can get much better and cheaper priced audio gear.

You can always find something that sounds leaps and bounds better for less money. As for classical and jazz, Bose muddies the music and just plain doesn't reproduce some vital frequencies so I do not agree with that assessment at all.
Buy Other Sound Equipment Or as many in the industry say "No highs, no lows, it must be BOSE.
