NFL on Dish Network

We have had Direct TV for 4 years and are considering going to Dish Network. We were told by Dish Network that we could see all the football games using the Sports Package. I don't believe this.

We are in South Carolina and are Steeler fans, in the past we have got the NFL Sunday Ticket from Direct TV paying hundred of dollars for it. It is hard to believe that we could go to Dish Network and pay $5.99 and be able to see all games. I know dish now offers the NFL Network and the Red Zone but can I see all games?

No. You will not see all the games as you did with Direct TV. You will get the usual network broadcast games, and yes they now have Red Zone which shows all the highlights when they happed ($5.99). But deffinately not all live games. But then it only costs a fraction of the Direct TV price.

If you have the NFL package, what one often does, particularly if they are a Fantasy football player is go to a game every time one becomes aware that a team in a given game is within the 20 yard line i.e. the Redzone. NFL Redzone goes to every game live when a team goes into the Redzone. So, in effect, you get the same thing for $72/yr rather than $300 per year. Plus, with the $72/yr with Dish you get a bunch of other Sports Channels. Much better deal. Wouldn't take DirectTV with their expensive package if you paid me.

I have also been thinking about the NFL. com and being able to watch all the games online after Midnight on Sunday night. $50 for the season and being able to watch them when I am free. Might be worth changing from Direct TV to Dish Network. Still would save alot of money.

Has anyone used nfl. com before, or is it new this year?

I think that is new for NFL Network. I am watching their morning show right now and they are providing alot of good info for a Fantasy player. Also, if you look at a side-by-side comparison, Dish has 8 more HD channels than DirectTV. Surprised me but true. This is a big deal for me because all of my TV's are HD.

Anyway, I really liked the NFL Redzone. Could watch it all day but have to watch my beloved Vikings first. Turn to it during commercials and the half and then watch it after the Vikings game. It is great. Non-stop action and they show every single game live everytime someone is in the Redzone. Occasionally, it is recorded since once in awhile more than one game is in the Redzone at the same time. Even under those circumstances it is only a few minutes old. So, once again, my point is the NFL package for DirectTV does not really provide you any extra value unless there is a specific team you like to follow that is not televised in your area. Otherwise, save yourself some money and switch to Dish. I am happy because I finally got what I wanted (being a Fantasy player) for much less money.
