whats with the sound

well it seems that dish is still having a problem with channel 61, i watch smallville and the sound is, more than not, messed up. and its only on smallville,not on any other programs on 61. now last night it sounded like it was in a echo chamber. any one else have this problem. i have a hdtv with a 722 box and the sound is bad on the tv or through my surround sound system.

I'd report it to Dish Tech Support.

The trouble is, there's no way for you to track the problem down. As long as it's this one program, and there's no way your receiver is auto switching to an audio format just for this show (eg Dolby Stereo) which has a DSP effect accidentally applied (eg Jazz Hall or something else silly they put into receivers)... then the fault must be upstream.

It could be Dish badly formatting the program at their coders, or before that.

A year or two ago I had the same situation with a new season of Lost. The dialog was almost inaudible on the HD channel. It happened 2 weeks in a row. I recognized it as a bad delivery of surround sound channels, reported it to Dish and wrote to tech support at the network. I received vague replies from both, but the issue was fixed by week three. Guess I wasn't the only one complaining.
