The Samsung BDP-1000 is one of the worst BD players ever built and was buggy from the beginning. It continues to have problems today even after multiple FW updates. The BDP 1200, 1400, and 1500 have gone through similar issues. I would stay away from the Samsung BD players and go with a LG, Panasonic, or Sony. clearday 09-18-2009, 09:15 AM Be sure you have updated your firmware to the latest version. I've seen on another forum that Samsung recently issued two new upgrades for the 1000. Check the link: http://pages.samsung.com/us/bluraysupport/support.html Chris Gerhard 09-20-2009, 05:41 AM If you are having problems with Blu-ray discs, there is a good chance the recent firmware update will help. If the problems are in fact with DVD's as you mention, I don't believe a firmware update will help at all. I owned the BD-P1000 and it was only slighty better than the Samsung BD-P1200 I owned, both had difficult loading Blu-ray discs reliably. Subsequent Samsung models have been better but I still see more problems reported with Samsung players than the other major manufacturers. If you decide to purchase a new player, let us know what features and price you require and we can offer some recommendations. Are there warranty on these things? Hi there, when did you bought your player? because as far as i know upon purchasing any item there was a one year warranty on it. So if your player keeps on crashing i suggest you to return back on the outlet where you bought the player and claim your warranty. I also suggest you can use a disk cleaner. whenever that happened to me I just use my DVD cleaner then after that it will function again. That was just a suggestion. Hope it will help you. tvine2000 09-22-2009, 09:56 AM I agree with chris and goofnut. I don't know whats up with samsung, they just can't seem to a blu-ray player that works compared to sony ,panny, pioneer and others. it seems even the cheap 'o players work better then samsung. I had 3 samsung dvd players in the day ,one with hdmi [upconvert]. i had issues with everyone. as a result i won't buy anything with there name on it. With samsung the saying ''you get what you pay for'' seems to apply here. To be fair i know people have had issues with other brands ,but samsung seems to pop up on these forums a lot. tcarcio 09-22-2009, 10:26 AM Funny, I have the 1500 and it has worked perfectley for me. I have the original firmware and since I only use it to play movies I don't upgrade it because it works fine. The main culprits of multiple FW issues are the BDP-1000, 1200, and 1400. tcarcio 09-22-2009, 10:31 AM The BDP-1500 and the players released after have had less issues, but still have them. Seems about right... HD Goofnut 09-22-2009, 10:52 AM Good to know..... As a sidenote the Target near me is selling the 1500 for $152. Not bad.... It also seems that Samsung's BD players after the 1500 have almost no issues at all so maybe they finally know what they are doing. | |
