I'm looking to go blu and have read that the P3 is a great player. Why is that? Besides the gaming option. Thanks and sorry if this is a "no brainer".:)

Why is the P3 so good?truckie23 09-17-2009, 11:14 AM I'm looking to go blu and have read that the P3 is a great player. Why is that? Besides the gaming option. Thanks and sorry if this is a "no brainer".:) The new PS3 slim does everything the older PS3s do plus they bitsream TrueHD and Master Audio. It's still one of fastest loading BD enabled machines on the planet and has every feature you could want. The only downside is not being able to use a IR remote unless you have a Bravia. For $299 this thing is a steal IMHO. WestC07 09-17-2009, 12:49 PM Agreed. I traded in my Panasonic BD60 for a PS3 Slim this past weekend and could not be happier. The true benefit is the bang for your buck that you get. Not only do you get a BD player, you get an internet browser, gaming system, and media center. What's not to like? truckie23 09-17-2009, 02:00 PM I just wanted to say thanks for the response to my question about the P3. I guess I'm gonna get one this weekend. The deal with the remote control is sorta a downer but the up side more than makes up for it. :yippee::yippee: HD Goofnut 09-17-2009, 02:06 PM I just wanted to say thanks for the response to my question about the P3. I have not seen it cheaper anywhere else. jkkyler 09-17-2009, 02:58 PM I have also seen a 'dongle' or converter that will allow IR to be converted to bluetooth for ps3 hatt 09-17-2009, 03:00 PM You can get the PS3 Bluetooth remote at Wal-Mart for about $20. I have not seen it cheaper anywhere else. Believe it or not, I recently saw it at a Radio Shack for $20. I had to do a double take. I still don't know if it may have really been a dream, RS having the best price. awol 09-17-2009, 03:59 PM I have also seen a 'dongle' or converter that will allow IR to be converted to bluetooth for ps3 There are two options... Nyko Blu Wave (http://www.amazon.com/PlayStation-3-Blu-Wave-Remote/dp/B000R5H7KE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1253220805&sr=8-1) You can also use this to program your Harmony (if you have one). But it will work with just about ANY IR universal remote from what I understand. You don't have to use the one that comes with it. Official Logitech IR-To-Bluetooth Harmony adaptor (http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Harmony-Adapter-Playstation-3/dp/B00267S7XW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1253220896&sr=8-1-catcorr) Again, this is the official product for using a Harmony universal remote with the PS3. I have used the Blu Wave in the past, but since I don't use my PS3 for BD playback (unless absolutely necessary), I don't use it anymore. One thing to note if you're going to game with the PS3, I don't know if many people experienced this, but so long as I had the USB adaptor for the Blu Wave plugged into the PS3, my controller would ALWAYS register initially as controller number 2. I would always have to go in and change the controller to number 1 manually. Also, with the Blu Wave, it will not power on the PS3 for you. You'll still need to do that with a controller or the power button on the console. PFC5 09-17-2009, 04:34 PM There are two options... That bugs me too, but my kids leave the 2 Guitar hero USB receivers plugged in also, so mine goes to #4 position and cannot be used to skip past the credit and other preliminary screens unless it is #1. If i cannot get the kids to unplug the GH USB connections I would still have that issue though. | |
