HTCP to Samsung LCD via HDMI Question!

The setup: I have a custom built HTPC with ATI EAH4770 GPU connected to a Samsung 52" LCD HDTV 1080P via HDMI. It took minute a minute to find the HDTV controls on the Catalyst Control Panel but I was able to do it and adjusted the settings accordingly (1920x1080@60ghz).

The problem: When watching HD or DVD movies, the quality is almost perfect but when I am back on the desktop or browsing the windows explorer or firefox, the text is very unclear, can barely see it from far away. I have Vista so when I do ctrl+alt+del it brings up that screen with a blue\green background and I can see that the colors are off. It looks like its all over saturated and darker colors don't flow into the lighter colors naturally like they would on a regular monitor.

p.s. I tried using a standard VGA and it worked great but didn't seem to be as nice of a picture when watching HD movies.

Any help would be really appreciated. I have looked through a number of sites and posts but haven't found anything remotely close to my situation. I am pretty there are some gurus out there!

you could try a different HDMI cable, or unplug it and plug it back in, making sure you have good connection, just a thought..
