connect Dell Vostro 1400 to HDTV

Hi all,

I connected my laptop to my HDTV by VGA to DVI adapter, then DVI to HDMI cable. My laptop seems recognized the TV and the TV has HDMI source available. However, my TV keeps saying "no signal". When I unplug the VGA connector, the TV said "check cable".

When connecting a second to display to more modren laptops I have come across the same issue. In most instances I was trying to windows display manager to "Activate" the display (end result being exactly what your described).

The final resolution on diffrent brand laptops (Asus and HP), some with nvidia card and some with ati card, was to use the Display Driver Software to activate the display (So if ATI card Catalyst Control Center, or if Nvidia, Intel ect .... their equivalent to CCC).

In all instaces this quickly and painlessly fixed my issues. Good luck.
