Hello...this is my first post. I've just put the two rear speakers of my 5.1 surround into the ceiling (Yamaha NS-IW660). My question is about the blown in insulation. Now that they are installed, should I remove them and make some kind of shroud to keep the insulation from falling into the cone? Or??? What's the impact of not "insulating" them from the insulation? I've thought about using the spun glass to pack the speaker and then put it back. Comments please!

Definetly do lot let the cellulose come in contact or pack around the speakers. The cones are meant to move and vibrate. Without this movement you will have a very subdued, muffled sound. Me choice would be to use the fiberglass, but to build a 8"-10" skeleton above the speakers out of wire (coat hangers would work), cover this skeleton with a heavy plastic as a vapor barrier, then lay the fiberglass over it. You could also use this plastic shell and shoot the cellulose over it,,,but make sure that the plastic is secure and your "turtle shell" will not collapse. And welcome to the HD Forum!!
