I use a DVI to HDMI for the video from my PC

For the sound i connect a Y cable from the speaker's headphone port to the HDTV's white/red audio inputs.

The sound plays but when there is music typically without speech the sound picks up a bit. than when there is mostly speech the tv volume needs to be turned up to hear it. than lowered again when there is music.

any ideas how to remedy this?
